Call me Thomas: lyrics and why we should stop giving him a hard time

I feel like doubting Thomas gets a bad rep. He was one of Jesus’ 12 disciples and yeah the only one who said out loud, what probably everyone was thinking at some point.

Sometimes it’s hard to be the only one in the room to doubt. And it’s a lot harder to say it out loud - it can feel like some kind of betrayal. But doubt is not the same as betrayal. It’s not a dirty word and it doesn’t have to mean everything has to get ripped down and rebuilt (though sometimes it does). Here are the lyrics to Call me Thomas

Call me Thomas

By Tina Boonstra and Barnabas Shaw

Don’t call me Mary call me Thomas

Sometimes I struggle to believe

all of the good things that you promised

Even when you’re right here with me

Still I know, my heart it tells me so

keep on seeking,

So I go, again to find that road

keep on seeking, keep on seeking

Don’t call me Mary call me Thomas

I need more time to work it out

I fear I’m not the one you wanted

You’re just too good to walk out now

Still I hope, my heart it tells me so

Keep on seeking,

So I go, again to find that road

Keep on seeking, keep on seeking,

I knew you once, and I’ll know you again

If I could feel your scars, with my own two hands

Is that too much to ask? I know it’s more than you said

Is that too much to ask, from my dear, dear friend?

Don’t call me Mary call me Thomas

My guess is you already know

You never were afraid of honest

But now we’re here, where do we go?

I still hope, cause oh, what do I know?

Keep on seeking

So I go, again to find that road

Keep on seeking, keep on seeking

You still call my name like nothing’s changed, like nothing’s changed, like nothing’s changed

You call my name like nothing’s changed, like nothing’s changed, like nothing’s changed, like nothing’s changed.
